You will often hear me say that StrongHER Physical Therapy & Performance is "fitness forward." What I mean by this is that treatment plans may start on the treatment table with exercises such as bridges, kegels or clamshells but they definitely don't stop there. In order to truly build strength and resilience, it is important to get back to functional movements (think squats, deadlifts, shoulder press, etc.) and add load, intensity in order to prepare your body for all that life throws at it.
StrongHER Physical Therapy & Performance is in network with Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield.
You can absolutely still choose to receive care at StrongHER Physical Therapy & Performance but will pay out of pocket for visits. We provide a simple one price per appointment for all out of network clients with no surprise bills or extra fees. We can also discuss visit packages which provide additional discounts. With 45 minute appointments and 1:1 care with Kelli the entire time, sometimes going out of network can actually save you money in the long run! Especially if you have a high deductible insurance plan.
Yes!
No, you do not need a referral to come to StrongHer Physical Therapy & Performance. In the state of Iowa, you are able to receive physical therapy without a physician referral. If Kelli thinks there is anything your doctor needs to know about, she will collaborate with them as needed.
In most cases, yes! There is currently no research to indicate dry needling during pregnancy is harmful to either mom or baby. However, there may be individual contraindications based on your past medical history, medications, personal history, etc. that may warrant avoiding dry needling during pregnancy. Kelli will review all of this with you and proceed on a case by case basis.
Definitely not! An internal pelvic floor muscle assessment is performed by a pelvic floor physical therapist to diagnose pelvic floor impairments such as muscle weakness or overactivity, scar tissue impairments, prolapse, etc. This is the best way to truly understand what is going on with your pelvic floor and therefore provide the most effective treatment. But, it is not required - it is your body and your care. It will only be performed with your consent.
We offer in-person pelvic floor physical therapy in Ankeny, Iowa. We do offer virtual services, when needed!
